Perhaps because so many investors were traumatized by the 2008-2009 financial crisis, the prevailing mood and expectation has been for events to turn out badly. If there is a half empty, rather than half full take, that is what has prevailed. However, events have not been cooperating; they have been breaking good.
Instead of faltering, the economy has continued to recover; the consumer is alive and well; manufacturing and exports are stronger than ever; Europe is beginning to recover; and now emerging markets are coming out of their slump. The New Year may surprise many investors as to how much goes right.
