We are now in the Donald Trump era for the stock market. The new administration promises many changes in direction with new approaches and policies coming. Trend analysis does not help in predicting the future. Additionally, new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, will generate their own changes. Managing capital in this environment will require insight and flexibility. The Bull and his partners relish the challenge.
A few things can be said, however. Higher volatility with so many changes seems likely. There will be more and more surprises, some positive, others not. Quality will always count. The strong are usually the ones to get stronger and those that are weak will fade even more quickly. Keep thinking and stay flexible.
All of this does not mean that investors need to trade more. It does mean that careful analysis is even more important. We are hopeful, but not naively so. Those that think they know, probably do not. It should be exciting. All of us at Riverplace Capital are happy to talk with you about the new business and investing environment.
