It is earnings season and reports are coming in. The reports are for this past first quarter when winter had a major impact on much of the country.
With that in mind, earnings are looking pretty good. Sixty percent of the earnings reported so far are beating expectations; albeit, lowered ones. More importantly, commentary from the companies themselves point to optimism for the rest of the year.
With the evidence of solid economic fundamentals, it appears that the fears that led to the recent sell-off are being dispelled. We should recover recent highs and hopefully move higher from there. Not over-reacting and standing steady was the best advice and policy. Let’s hope more and more dollars (gains) fall our way.
