Investors are a skittish breed. If investors don’t have much to worry about, they invent something. Things are actually going swimmingly. The economy is growing, but not fast enough to encourage the Federal Reserve to reverse its extremely easy money policy. Well run companies are managing their assets superbly, generating cash and continuing to strengthen their already strong balance sheets. Profits are at all-time highs and most companies are free to make whatever adjustments they need to improve their performance.
So what are we supposed to worry about now; the stock market is a bubble? Just because some indices are at record highs does not make a bubble. In fact, valuations are reasonable. If long-term growth could never result in higher and higher valuations, then what would that mean? The stock market continues to look to be on solid footing – enjoy.
