Right in the middle of earnings season, the results look fantastic! Not only are earnings growing, so are revenues; and not by just a little. Both are advancing at a furious pace. It all looks like a boom to us. The stock market is taking notice and prices are advancing nicely as a result. Even more exciting, firms have a positive outlook for continuing the trend.
One caveat is potential economic damage from the ensuing trade war. Increasing tariffs are now in the cards.
How far they go is anybody’s guess. The objective is to bring some of our trading partners to the table and to end up with agreements that are more equitable to our businesses; we shall see. In the meantime, our economy is doing very well, and businesses are making record profits.
