In The Lonely Bull

Many investors have heard the advice, buy an index fund and be done with it.  This amounts to one decision investing.

The question, however, is which index.  Should international ones be included?   If so, then in what proportion?  Does the relative value of the dollar make a difference?  Big changes here can dramatically affect returns.

Even sticking to domestic securities has its own complexities.  There are indices for large companies, small companies and those in between.  Some indices select according to growth possibilities and other select according to value metrics.  So again, which ones and in what proportion?

Let’s face it; there is no one decision process for this ever faster changing investment world.  Investing, as always, takes work and vigilance.
