Quarterly Report Card

Quarterly Report Card
By Peter Bower

Every quarter, investors get a look at how public companies are doing. The businesses must report their earnings and revenues for the past quarter and their financials year-to-date. They must also announce any other important and relevant information. In addition, many firms also give some guidance for their profitability and sales for the next few quarters. So far so good! Seventy-seven percent of reporting companies have met or exceeded analysts’ quarterly estimates for revenues and profits.

Also, most companies’ forward guidance appears reasonable given the uncertainties of tariffs and other unknowns in their financial futures. In short, U.S. businesses look to be in good shape. They and the economy are still growing, and a slowdown is not yet apparent. Of course, there will always be some problem spots but there are not too many. The Bull and his partners are optimistic for returns this year. Stay steady my friends.
