As much as no one likes rain on their parade, it happens. In spite of sun shining on our economy, this precipitation is coming from a cloud somewhere. Last week we proffered that the slowdown in China had broad repercussions. These are still reverberating through the world’s economy. In addition, investors are fixated on the prospect of rising interest rates.
The wait seems worse than the event probably will turn out to be. In the meantime, the economy keeps humming along. Yes, there are some problems; there always are.
However, taken as a whole, the U.S. economy continues to advance with solid growth; not too fast or too slow. Investors, like the people they are, go through collective mood swings. Right now they are very cautious, facing a number of unknowns, and slightly surly. This will change and the strong economic fundamentals will come back to the fore. Stay steady, my friends.
